Under the direction of the Senior Director of Communications, the Editorial Program Assistant supports the communications goals of the University by writing, editing and proofreading articles, news releases and other content, supporting our social media outreach and providing administrative support for the Office of Communications.
Examples of Work:
Responsible for writing, editing and proofreading content for all University publications, brochures, blogs and news releases.
Responsible for providing administrative support for the Office of Communications, including submitting purchase orders, managing the vendor approval process for new vendors and serving as the office's liaison to the Office of the Controller.
Responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Communications in the tracking of expenditures of the Office of Communications budget.
Responsible for researching and creating lists of reporters, producers, bloggers and other media members for use in the Office of Communication's media outreach efforts, including national reporters and media members covering specialized topics and industries.
Provide back-up monitoring and customer service response for all of the University’s social media channels.
Assist in developing and creating curated and original content for the University’s social channels.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
The ability to successfully manage and work on several tasks at the same time under deadline pressure.
Thorough understanding of the role of public relations and communications in an organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications; proficiency in Adobe Programs, including Photoshop, preferred.
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with two years experience or the equivalent as determined by the appointing authority
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one full year of college).
