Assistant to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs Volgenau School of Engineering
The George Mason University Volgenau School of Engineering seeks an Assistant to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs who is a motivated, people-oriented and organized critical thinker who can work collaboratively with university constituents. The Assistant to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs is expected to perform accurate research on topics of both strategic and tactical importance which may involve collecting, analyzing and reporting on data gathered across Volgenau, Mason and/or other organizations through various means including, but not limited to, internet searches, phone calls, written correspondence and surveys. The successful candidate must be able to create Excel spreadsheets, charts and PowerPoint presentations using the collected data.
Serves as the primary point of contact for the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs the Office of Graduate Student Affairs and the Office of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Services by addressing walk-ins, and answering email and telephone inquiries;
Independently, (s)he must be able to assess, manage and/or resolve requests and assign action items, if necessary, with diligent follow-up;
Assists with planning, and attends Graduate events;
Participates in social media;
Responsible for ordering and managing office supplies;
Reconciles fiscal reports and acts as telecommunication administrator;
Calendar management and travel coordination for the principals, with timely resourceful agility;
Independent maintenance of office files and records management and;
Coordination of the Doctoral Qualifying Exam process, including proctoring exams;
Other duties as assigned.
Substantial demonstrated related experience, including working for an executive (minimum 5 years preferred);
Outstanding communication and problem solving skills;
Ability to exercise independent, sound judgement with attention and accuracy to detail;
Ability and skill to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize items of importance with minimal supervision;
Ability to work as a team;
Possess noteworthy Microsoft Office experience, with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
A bachelor's degree
Experience working in higher education; and
Experience with Banner and Microstrategy.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
