The Graphic Designer supports the Office of University Relations to position North Carolina A&T State University as a leader in higher education by increasing public awareness of the university and its academic programs, research and other strategic initiatives by publicizing its accomplishments and resources to a wide array of internal and external audiences.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Office of University Relations is administered under the Office of the Chancellor of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T). University Relations is the central communications office for N.C. A&T that is responsible for marketing, branding, crisis communications, media relations and other major elements of identification and communications for the university. The office works with academic and administrative units across the university to promote news, information and events that align with the institution's strategic priorities and brand positioning. N.C. A&T is one of America's most highly respected universities, focused on interdisciplinary research, creative scholarship, exemplary undergraduate and graduate instruction, and community service and engagement.

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Bachelor's degree in fine arts, communications, graphic design or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
A minimum of ten years experience in graphic arts and design/layout is preferred.
Strong organizational skills to support ability to independently manage and coordinate all facets of job duties.
Expert working knowledge of the Mac environment, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and proficient working knowledge of the Windows environment and internet are preferred. Working knowledge of webpage development and content management systems (HTML and appropriate graphics). Strong proficiency with image and editing software including Photoshop, Illustrator and other industry standard software.
Demonstrated experience with and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, new media, and social media applications.
Creative thinking, versatility, ability to adapt in dynamic environment and take initiative; and strong customer interaction skills.
Action-oriented, excellent organizational abilities, extremely detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, a positive, collegial attitude, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively in a close team structure.
