Bruce V. Bigelow Memorial Science Communication Fellowship - Accepting applications until March 15 2019.
This new fellowship offers early-career science writers and communicators with rich and diverse experience covering the fields of health sciences, oceanography and engineering, particularly where they intersect.
The Fellow will rotate with three different Communications teams, spending three months each with UC San Diego Health, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Jacobs School of Engineering, for a total of nine months.
Under the direction of mentors, the Fellow will write scientific and medical content for UC San Diego websites, press releases, blogs, magazines and newsletters; produce multimedia pieces (e.g., video, podcast); and contribute to UC San Diego's social media presence.
The Fellow may also respond to basic inquiries from the public or media, preparing materials and organizing interviews as needed.
In addition to regular short-term assignments, the Fellow will complete an in-depth, interdisciplinary capstone project, to be determined with fellowship mentors.
