This position will help fulfill NRCA’s strategic plan goals as they relate to public and media relations and online and print communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for communicating between NRCA and media outlets for public relations (promotion of products, classes, etc.)
Work to improve relations between NRCA and media outlets
Serve as primary media contact
Work closely with Marketing and Business Development and Membership sections to help increase NRCA’s visibility among members and nonmembers
Work with director of communications to support NRCA’s social media strategy as it relates to media and public relations
Develop a media relations strategy and messaging that will help support NRCA’s efforts
Meet with media at trade shows on behalf of NRCA
Assist with organization of National Roofing Week
Create content for NRCA’s blog, Roof Scoop
Provide copy for marketing materials and NRCA’s website as assigned
Serve as primary point of contact for annual member charitable giving award.
Monitor news headlines regularly for NRCA media mentions, press pitch and blog post opportunities.
Provide content for and distribute quarterly media newsletter.
Manage assigned web pages and keep content current.
Edit documents and publications as assigned
Provide web exclusive content for Professional Roofing magazine
Strong understanding of media relations strategies and ability to implement such strategies throughout an organization
Track record of generating press coverage with major outlets
Excellent writing, editing, organizational and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of press monitoring and distribution software
Working knowledge of AP style and general grammar rules
Degree in communications or related field
Two to five years’ experience in a communications field
