Join Bloomberg BNA’s busy digital news team, and help to share our journalism with the world. We’re growing professional audiences and raising the profile of our four brands: Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Government, Bloomberg Tax and Bloomberg Environment.
You will help to manage the day-to-day social media presence by posting to and monitoring accounts. You should be familiar with all of the major social media platforms. You’ll work with editors to select dynamic photos and to write social-friendly language and search-friendly headlines. The digital editor must have strong writing skills and the ability to self-edit. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment in one of Washington’s largest newsrooms, where we respond quickly to breaking news.
The position requires teamwork and close collaboration with journalists based in newsrooms in Arlington, Va., and Washington, D.C., as well as reporters and editors in bureaus across the country. You’ll work with the reporters and editors to shape stories for maximum impact on all of our platforms by planning storytelling, packaging, engagement, and promotional strategies. You’ll collaborate with visual and multimedia journalists who can use their skills to tell help tell stories through data visualization, illustrations, videos and podcasts. You should have an understanding of social videos. You’ll also work with reporters and editors on best social practices.
You will need to monitor and react to real-time analytics. The digital editor should have an awareness of industry best practices and be able to spot digital trends.
You must be a self-starter who will proactively propose creative projects. You should be curious and have an enthusiasm for change. We’re looking for someone who can balance multiple short-term and long-term projects simultaneously.

Working knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes a plus.
Video production and editing skills, and Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and other Adobe software experience a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2+ years’ journalism experience managing social media platforms for a news organization or editing experience in a digital newsroom.
Strong news judgment.
