As the division grows, we are seeking an Associate Director, Advancement Communications (Digital Engagement, Social Strategy) with a real passion for higher education and who appreciate the role of philanthropy in enabling the university to accomplish its mission. In this role, you will lead UA's digital strategies for social media, and champion social media marketing channels with a focus on data led strategies, rich multimedia content and creative tactics that increase constituent engagement and build philanthropic support for Carnegie Mellon.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Advancement Marketing and Communications, you will develop and execute comprehensive, leading-edge communications and marketing plans for social media channels as part of the division's broader integrated marketing strategies. You will also work closely with other teams within the division, including Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, Development, Gift Planning and Institutional Partnerships, to conceive and carry out digital engagement strategies that help to achieve University Advancement's goals and objectives.
Core responsibilities will include:
Leading and improving the strategies for and activities on social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Snapchat.
Developing and implementing social media communications and marketing plan, as well as project plans, in coordination with division's integrated marketing strategies. Maintaining an editorial calendar for all social media channels.
Purposefully finding opportunities to promote content, news and events on social media channels.
Developing multimedia content for social media platforms in collaboration with partners.
Establishing reciprocal relationships with CMU social media and other marketing professionals, both within and outside division.
Serving as liaison to CMU Division of Marketing and Communications for social media efforts.
Continually reviewing new technologies, platforms, innovations and trends; advocates for and implements the adoption of new tactics, tools and channels that add to division's digital engagement efforts.
Establishing relevant metrics, develops reports and provides analysis of digital engagement performance to evaluate existing and future strategies.
Using social listening to identify and influence trends, interests and sentiments, and elevates concerns that need to be addressed.
Building and maintaining the voice across social media channels in line with the CMU brand, representing Carnegie Mellon, University Advancement and Alumni Association at all times.
Attending and covering events for social media purposes, including crafting and posting content.
Developing and following standard methodologies guidelines for division social media marketing; continually updating guidelines as necessary.
Being a phenomenal partner with external vendors.
Fostering and supporting volunteers involved with communications activities.

You should have the ability to travel to other locations, both on and off campus. You should also be willing to work outside normal business hours as evening and weekend work are occasionally required.
Bachelor's degree is required; (Master's degree preferred);
7+ years of online marketing, communications and project management experience;
Experience in building and implementing strategic integrated marketing plans;
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS;
Experience with content management systems, social media and web-publishing tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud/Social Studio preferred);
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite;
Experience with photography and videography for online use;
