Marketing and Communications Department within the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs (OVPDEMA).
Graphic Designer primary duties and responsibilities focus on creating visual concepts for OVPDEMA units and programming.
Use artistic and creative skills to design optimal quality pieces or desired configuration for various uses such as printed brochures, displays, video deliveries, social media, and other. Create visual aspects of marketing materials, websites and other media, including infographics. Store graphics as needed/required on CITO, BOX, or other designated resource areas for designated resources. Respond to requests and communications from OVPDEMA Marketing and Communications point of contact(s), its units, and other customers. Work with a variety of needs and various type technologies. Maintain good time management skills. Be prompt for assigned work. Tasks and timing of completion directly impacts web media communications and external and internal audiences in terms of marketing, information publication, and stakeholder satisfaction. Attend meetings related to projects when needed.
REQUIRED: Two years of college in graphic design, art, architecture + design, fine arts or related field; or two years of practical training in graphic design with an apprenticeship program, vocational school, or design training program, and two years of experience in graphic design with one year experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator).

Knowledge, skills and abilities: Skilled in InDesign. Familiar with Photoshop or similar program. Adaptive design eye and skill. Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism. Digital or film camera. Technical ability to work with a wide range of photography equipment and technology. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Able to build and maintain rapport with faculty, staff, student, parents, representatives, and community. Able to work flexible hours. Attend team and project meetings.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
This position predominately requires seeing, hearing, talking, listening, fingering and walking. There is a need for sitting for long periods of time, standing, reaching and grasping as well as lifting up to twenty pounds frequently. There are frequent close vision activities requiring reviewing and analyzing visual contents as well as daily use of a computer while reading and responding to electronic messages. Requires creating and responding to communications from various internal and external constituents. Collaborating with others, assessing and analyzing data, and creating materials are frequent. There are frequent face to face, phone and meeting communications. Task and responsibilities are performed indoors and outdoors. Mental concentration is required when creating content and materials under deadlines. Multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, problem solving, and responding to news emergencies and operational concerns can induce stress.
Sunday through Saturday week-day with day and evening flexible hours. Duties and schedules are flexible as assigned by the supervisor based on programs, events, and needs of OVPDEMA. Not to exceed a maximum of more than 29 hours per week across all positions of employment held with Indiana University. Average 8-10 hours weekly.
