Directs the development of all university editorial and creative design services, including major publications, web postings and social media messages. Oversees the concept development of the University primary marketing communications publications. Coordinates contract approval, completes budgetary estimations, and coordinates projects between vendors and departments. Maintains the Marketing and Communications Publications guidelines. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). ; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or as work requirements indicate.
30% Directs the development of all university editorial, design, creative and multimedia services. Oversees concept/graphic design development of the universityâ™s primary publications, including the Tarleton State University Magazine, Presidentâ™s Report and Viewbook.
20% Directs staff in preparing appropriate editorial copy, graphic design and photography for publications as well as content for multimedia projects, including videos created for use via social media and the university website. Responsible for the supervision of support staff, including but not limited to daily oversight, hiring, performance management, training and development.
20% Manages the outsourcing of design, creative and multimedia services for the university. Manages contract approval for projects. Responsible for project cost estimations to ensure all projects stay within or below approved budget. Manages projects between vendors and university departments.
15% Maintains university publication and multimedia guidelines. Works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications and Manager of Trademarks & Licensing to ensure that all marketing, advertising, licensing and branding initiatives align with the universityâ™s mission and vision.
10% Responsible for production and maintenance oversight of a digital file of photographs for use with the universityâ™s publications, news releases, advertisements, websites and social media. Oversees the production and storage of video footage.
5% Performs other duties as assigned. Provide support to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years of professional work experience that includes at least 7 years of writing and designing effective content for publications and 7 years of leadership/management experience. Must have experience with graphic design, photography and videography.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must demonstrate a broad-based understanding of the role played by publications, graphic design, photography and videography in communications, particularly for academic institutions. Must demonstrate proficiency with current technology for performance of duties, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated service-minded, project management approach focused on building and maintaining positive relationships with internal clients and external vendors.
