PHOTO AND IMAGING EDITOR , MIT Technology Review , to play a key role in strengthening the MIT TR audiences' relationships with its brand. Will assign and produce original photography for the bimonthly print magazine, daily web site, and social media accounts; create original photography in studio and on location for MIT News bimonthly print magazine; conceptualize and create original photo montages for online stories; research and curate imagery from photographers, stock agencies, media relations professionals, and user-generated sources; provide image support for video, motion graphics, and animation; provide basic image optimization and retouching (color correction, silhouetting, etc.); manage freelancers, photo budgets, contracts, and invoicing; and organize and maintain a database of digital image files.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : at least two years of editorial or photography experience; proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, and social media platforms and tools; experience creating, assigning, and producing photo shoots for a variety of subjects, including studio and location portraiture, reportage, conceptual still life, and photo illustration; ability to use handout, curated, and original photography to illustrate complex ideas and tell dramatic stories; knowledge of contracts, usage rights, photo licensing, and copyright law; knowledge of metadata strategy with archival best practices; excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues, be open to other perspectives, and tactfully advocate for one's own ideas; self-motivation; and an interested in all forms of photography.
