Student Centers Communications and Graphic Designer
The George Mason University Student Centers invites applications for a Communications and Graphic Designer. The Communications and Graphic Designer is responsible for working on a variety of marketing and communication projects, which serve the needs of the Office of Student Centers. As a member of the Student Centers team, the Communications and Graphic Designer reports to the Communications and Student Programs Supervisor. The Communications and Graphic Designer is expected to become familiar with the university's branding guidelines and work within them. Assist the Marketing Team with various project management functions of the office, and provide general administrative support;
Collaborate with the Student Centers team to develop and design graphics to promote events and services offered by Student Center units including, but not limited to, the Central Office, Event Services, and the Corner Pocket Game Room;
Assist the Marketing Team in developing graphic content for the Student Centers website, providing input on design and content to attract new students and keep current constituents engaged;
Serve as public relations representative, as scheduling permits, by attending and staffing specific Mason events to promote the Student Centers to prospective students and families. These events include, but are not limited to, Admission Open Houses, Green & Gold Showcase, Orientation, Welcome2Mason, shopMason events, Career Fair, College Colors Day, Alumni/Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Newsletter – develop content for our Student Center Advisory Board, Tenant Newsletter, and other forms of social media to engage internal and external stakeholders;
Blogging – create various stories related to Student Centers and post on website and social media to keep customers informed with details related to Student Center updates and news;
Social Media – responsible for posting content on all Student Centers social media, related to programs, services, news, and information;
Foundation – collaboration with various Student Center colleagues work to develop content that promotes and attracts clients to learn about our Student Centers Fund;
Student Programs – working with our programming team to offer support and assistance during events.
Applicant must possess excellent skills in communications, writing, journalism, graphic design and some level of skill in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), WordPress, and HTML. Videography and/or photography skills are a plus.
Pay for this position is $15 an hour. This position will work between 20-25 hours a week in the Student Centers Marketing and Communications Office located in the Johnson Center at our Fairfax Campus.
