Under the supervision of the Social Media Coordinator, the Associate Social Media Coordinator/Community Specialist works to oversee key strategic projects related to monitoring, enhancing, and protecting the reputation of the university on online platforms. The incumbent will actively monitor all social media channels, report on feedback and respond to comments in a timely manner. The associate coordinator will be expected to have a pulse on UCI's online community, and be able to flag SCPA leadership on critical situations arising online.Skills required are excellent judgment, ability to anticipate unintended consequences of social media posts, streamlined and professional communication and quick turnaround in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exploring and sharing digital media, have a strong affinity for higher education, the UCI mission and be a creative, critical thinker. The candidate will also perform other related duties and work on various special projects as needed.Duties also include proactively identifying Strategic Communications & Public Affairs content that can be repurposed or created for social media, working with the social media coordinator, director of creative services, marketing team, media relations team, executive communications, web team and campus leaders to develop targeted, message-oriented and consistent communications appropriate to social media platforms. The content will be curated and segmented for the appropriate social media channels/audiences.This candidate's secondary role will be a back-up for Chancellor communications including but not limited to monthly messages, emails and website updates as well as back-up for 'In the News' daily communication, events calendar and entering press releases and news stories into Word Press.
