The Indiana Environmental Reporter social media and outreach manager is responsible for distributing IER's content via social media and through frequent communication with other publications throughout Indiana. The primary goal of the social media and outreach manager is to spread the word about the publication and to make IER's reporting accessible to readers.
Communicates with contacts at Indiana news outlets via email and telephone. Pitches IER stories to relevant communities or publications on a weekly basis. Produces a weekly newsletter using Mailchimp. Continuously improves and expands IER's distribution lists. Maintains IER's social media presence daily, posting content, engaging with IER's readership, and spreading the word about the publication. Responsible for monitoring analytics and making data-driven decisions about social media content.
Produces regular briefs on local, national, and international environmental news for publication on the website. Additional duties include news and feature story writing, content editing, website posting, and maintenance of media kits and other internal materials.
High school diploma or GED.
Impeccable reporting, writing and editing skills. Strong news judgment. Expertise in social media management. Ability to develop and maintain distribution methods and audience engagement. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite's Word and Excel. Ability to operate independently while collaborating with a small team.
Working knowledge of Photoshop, GitHub, MAMP and Mailchimp.
