The Climate Crisis Reporter will report on environmental and climate change issues for The Real News Network (TRNN). The position will be responsible for presenting complex political and diplomatic issues, breaking down scientific studies, and reporting on the impact of climate change around the world and on effective solutions for an equitable, sustainable and green economy through both text and video. This position will have a sound understanding of digital platforms including social media in order to communicate in a clear, accurate and engaging way.

Report daily on climate science and the urgency of the climate crisis and produce investigative journalism and in-depth interviews on proposed solutions and models of change.
Pitch daily on national and international news stories as they relate to climate.
Use research databases to conduct content research & development and detailed fact checking; file FOIA requests; and write video news scripts.
Work with producers and editing staff to enhance news pieces by locating relevant videos, graphics, charts and other visual elements.
Work with studio technicians to produce interviews as they take place, indicating where visual elements should be added, including during live shoots.

Post-produce and edit news pieces.
Livestream news events when assigned, including protests, rallies,
Organize and participate in opportunities for community engagement.
Participate in other reporting/producing work as assigned.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Investigative research and fact finding skills
Knowledge of national and international political and social affairs, and interest in upkeep with the news cycle
Ability to complete tasks and calmly maintain order in high-stress situations
Excellent organizational and logistics expertise
Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile
Strong computer skills, with basic understanding of multimedia file formats
News research skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
2+ years in reporting on climate related issues
