The incumbent will assist students in self-exploration to develop education plans that are consistent with their aspirations, interests, strengths,and values. Specific duties include: encourages students’ holistic engagement with college, university, and broader community experiences (academically, socially, culturally, and professionally); develops a collaborative relationship with students that enables them to engage in independent decision-making, make meaning of their experiences, and assume responsibility for their futures; guides students in critical reflection of academic and career goals; guides students through career and professional development opportunities available as well as campus support for the identification and exploration of experiential learning, leadership, and career paths; will advise undecided students as well those interested in various health professions; and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and one year of related experience preferably within a higher education environment working with diverse student populations.
The incumbent must demonstrate:
Commitment to a high level of “student-centered” service delivery
Ability to identify basic student needs and make referrals to academic and career resources
Ability to assist in the delivery of projects and programs (such as orientation)
Ability to employ student recruitment/outreach/retention strategies
Ability to work collaboratively with university departments and academic units
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, and responsibilities
Excellent written and verbal communication, group presentation and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of desktop software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
