Provide a broad range of communications support for the Department of History. Responsible for implementing promotional strategies and initiatives that advance recruitment and enhance the image of History curricula and programs. Support Departmental and College initiatives by strengthening the Department's reputation and outreach by engaging key audiences through use of official social media accounts including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Work with faculty, students, staff, and others to generate original and repurposed content incorporating text, photography, video and graphics to reach desired audiences and achieve established objectives.
Assist the Department in the composition and execution of media content to broaden awareness of History curricula and programs and promote engagement with various audiences. Duties may include: writing and editing of internal publications, coordinating social media platforms and producing audio-visual materials, assisting with recruitment programs, news releases and various public affairs documents including the Department's annual newsletter. Collect, compile, analyze, and report social media activity data and trends. Help ensure all social media channels are updated consistently to maintain positive online presence Track new social media technologies. Serve as a resource to train, educate and aid History Department faculty and students in best practices in establishing and maintaining an effective social media presence. Collaborate with the College of Liberal Arts Communication Director to produce content in an accurate, timely, and compelling manner to help maximize reach of the Department of History. Publish information to social media channels and other communication platforms on a regular basis. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or communications. Two (2) years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or the equivalent experience.
One to two years of relevant experience. Previous experience in higher education. Experienced user of multiple social media sites, blogs, online content. Experience working with Adobe products (including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro). Demonstrated abilities in graphic design and/or video production and editing.
