Market Job Description
Responsible for external communications/public relations strategy and support for the international banking regions Americas (Canada & LatAm); Asia Pacific; and Europe, Middle East & Africa; with a focus on building the company's reputation, and raising awareness of international business capabilities. Identify and execute executive advocacy opportunities globally for the head of Wells Fargo International, and for the regional presidents in their respective regions. Creates strategy for International regions storytelling content creation and deployment in Wells Fargo digital channels, including social media platforms. Partners with the Wells Fargo International regional communications leads to execute external communications regional strategies. Works closely with Corporate Media team. Tasked with developing relationships with the key reporters at specified global media outlets to facilitate more proactive pitching. Consults with senior leaders to understand communication needs. Develops communication goals, objectives and plans to best communicate management's position or message. Identifies communications opportunities and the design/medium/channel for execution. Conducts media training with regional leaders who will serve as spokespeople. Analyses information regarding public opinion and recommends messaging approach to management. Manages complex and/or sensitive communication projects. Negotiates with vendors and manages complex vendor relationships. Serves as designated spokesperson on a variety of issues, including highly sensitive issues. Position may include responsibility for overseeing or conducting civic/community relations activities and providing training and guidance to less experienced consultants.
Work with Head of Wells Fargo International and regional executives, regional communications leads and U.S.-based communications colleagues to design and implement strategic media relations and other external communications activities in support of key Wells Fargo business lines operating in the region. Includes identifying key opportunities for executive speaking engagements, and social media support.
Tasked with developing relationships with the key reporters at specified global media outlets to facilitate more proactive pitching.
Identify opportunities to increase executive thought leadership through select speaking opportunities; and through targeted social media activities.
Work with senior Wells Fargo International leaders to lead crisis, issues and reputation management communications.
Consult and provide coaching to senior and regional business leaders for interacting with the media; media train spokespeople in the regions.
Partner with Wells Fargo social media teams to drive awareness of public relations activities via social media – including Twitter, LinkedIn, internal and external blogs and other platforms (e.g. Wells Fargo Stories). Where necessary, identify where appropriate channels may need to be built or enhanced (ie. web pages for International regions).
Market Skills and Certifications
Experience of public relations, media relations or corporate communications experience.
Experience working with top London-based international media.
Knowledge of top outlets covering financial services in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
Content creation/storytelling and social media experience.
Experience developing and leading executive communications strategies and projects.
Significant collaborative communications experience working across business lines.
A track record of providing high quality communications consulting and advisory support.
Excellent project management skills.
Exceptional writing skills – news and features writing, speeches, talking points, presentations
Preferred qualifications & skills
International communications/PR experience.
Experience working within the financial services industry.
A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
