Independently develops a communications/marketing plan and strategy for Nebraska Extension's crops-focused communications. Provides vision and strategic direction. Obtains content from faculty subject matter experts in various disciplines to develop, manage, produce, and oversee electronic marketing for crop production newsletter and CropWatch website, targeted at Nebraska's agricultural producers and agribusinesses. Coordinates content calendar. In conjunction with crop production content experts, creates and/or edits peer reviewed articles, news releases, research updates, reports, etc. covering the various crops produced across Nebraska. Writes copy for Nebraska Extension and IANR crop production website and e-newsletter. Proofreads/edits crops, beef production, and water related subject matter. Ensures web best practices, valid HTML and CSS, SEO, accessibility standards and media optimization. Tracks and measures effectiveness by monitoring the number of e-newsletter subscribers, social media followers, and website visitors. Works with University web experts to ensure adherence to brand standards and best practices.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English/writing or related field plus three years of experience writing and editing content for websites and social media, and posting content online in a professional environment. Knowledge of AP style. Skilled at editing for grammar and style. Experience posting content to the web with valid HTML & CSS.
Bachelor’s degree in agricultural journalism or science/technical writing plus five years of experience writing and editing news related and technical content, social media posts, and posting content online for agricultural related publications. Knowledge of Drupal. Knowledge of agriculture and agricultural production. Knowledge of web best practices and SEO. Technical editing/writing experience.
