The NAM is committed to providing news and analysis to manufacturers and a wide variety of other audiences, including policymakers and the general public. We are looking for a digital content editor with superb writing skills and the ability to tell stories that hold readers’ attention.
The Digital Content Editor is a motivated self-starter who understands how online readers consume news and can operate under tight deadlines. He or she is someone who can work independently as well as in close communication with many teams at a large organization. We are looking for a mixture of diplomacy, writing talent and initiative: the Digital Content Editor must be able to identify an opportunity for a story, find and contact the right sources and write it up in a compelling, concise article.
The Digital Content Editor will be writing materials for the NAM’s many audiences across multiple platforms, including, but not limited to, the NAM’s web and email properties, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. This position reports to the Editorial Content Director.
Make an Impact in the Following Ways:
Thoroughly learn the NAM’s policy priorities and interests, along with the internal workings of the organization
Create compelling, readable articles for the NAM’s newsletters and websites
Scour the internet on an ongoing basis, keeping track of major news stories and finding opportunities for NAM commentary or tie-ins
Edit and post content in the content management system and on social media platforms
Conduct interviews with manufacturers and tell their stories
Apply SEO best practices
Assist with paid social execution
Entrepreneurial, highly organized and detail-oriented professional
A creative storyteller, who can make even dry policy topics interesting and easy to digest
Must have experience working within content management systems and social platforms
Must have interpersonal skills strong enough to lead interviews, work on edits collaboratively and make connections inside and outside the organization
Demonstrated cross-platform digital knowledge, especially SEO, social media, email and mobile publishing best practices
Experience working with content management systems (ideally WordPress)
Must be capable of learning and working with new software/platforms
Experience with Google Analytics and native and aggregated social analytics platforms (including Sprout Social and Simply Measured) a plus
Experience working with CRM systems (including Salesforce) a plus
Education and Experience:
A. degree in English, political science, journalism, communications or a related field preferred
3+ years of writing and editing experience; previous experience at a newspaper, journal, think tank or other policy establishment a plus
