The Miami Herald’s Audience Engagement Producer serves as a vital connection between our newsroom, our Editorial Board and Miami’s communities. This producer will work with the Miami Herald Editorial Board and newsroom opinion writers to ensure that our opinion journalism reaches a larger audience while also driving community outreach efforts, both in person and virtually, that improve and expand our interactions with Miami’s communities.
The person in this role is charged with understanding what our community needs from us and transforming what we hear into engagement tactics that reach beyond posting editorials and columns online. The Audience Engagement Producer will help the opinion team play a thought leadership role in the community by bringing diverse perspectives together for a civil conversation. The successful candidate must be a sharp thinker with a love for local opinion journalism and an eye for the big and small issues our community is buzzing about. This person will engage in respectful community building and hosting conversations with an end goal of building support for our work. The successful candidate will be a team player with a demonstrated ability to design engagement campaigns and transfer analytics into actionable insights.
Key tasks include:
Develop and execute creative ways to deliver editorials and opinion columns that matter into the hands of those who need them most, infusing successful tactics throughout the newsroom when applicable.
Collaborate across teams to develop processes and promotions that increase community audience reach and engagement.
Facilitate community dialogue, both in person and virtually, including Q&As, livestreams and additional forms of digital conversations. Skills and experience with video and/or podcasting are a plus.
Test new skills and technologies, specifically tools and platforms that inspire engagement and spur community conversations.
Interpret and utilize data to inform the editorial process, making both real-time and strategic decisions.
This job reports to the Regional Audience Growth + Retention Editor.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least three years of newsroom audience engagement experience
Telecommuting is allowed.
