We are seeking candidates who have extensive experience in social media, an educational background, and the professional experience necessary to help JMPR expand its offerings with the creation of a social media option within the major.
Keene State College has the only stand-alone, four-year journalism degree program in the University System of New Hampshire, and one of the few such programs in New England. The major prepares students for careers in the field by enabling them to build print, broadcast, and digital media skills in an applied setting. Journalism, multimedia, and public relations students at KSC have the opportunity to work for the school newspaper, The Equinox, and the weekly 30-minute television newscast, KSC-TV News, as well as WKNH Radio and the weekly campus sports webcast, Inside Owl Athletics. Internships with professional media organizations and businesses are also an important part of the program. The journalism program is housed in the Media Arts Center, where students use the journalism computer lab, the television broadcast studio, and audio and video editing labs. The Journalism, Multimedia, Public Relations curriculum at Keene State College emphasizes the concepts of press objectivity, fairness, accuracy, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press, as well as the development of analytical writing, research, message creation, production, and presentation skills. The successful candidate will teach an introductory level course in social media to students in the major, as well as advanced coursework in media analytics/metrics and social media production. The ability to teach traditional writing/reporting classes is welcome. Collaboration with academic and non-academic departments/ programs, including The Equinox and KSC TV News, among others, are also a required part of the position.
An Assistant Professor will teach twelve credits, typically three 4-credit courses, per academic semester. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental activities and campus-wide committees, maintaining an active record of scholarship, and professional development.
Clinical Instructors are full-time, non-tenure track positions who are members of the bargaining unit and whose responsibilities typically focus on delivery of instruction with applied focus in a specific area, as well as providing service to the department, the college, and/or the profession. Clinical Instructors teach 16 credits per academic semester.
As part of their regular teaching responsibilities at this public liberal arts college, faculty members may teach courses both in the major and in the Integrative Studies Program. For more information about this program, please see: http://www.keene.edu/isp/.
