As part of the Department of Communication, provides leadership and strategic direction for communication, community relations and outreach customer service and advocacy initiatives for the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. Works collaboratively with internal marketing, public relations and digital/web leaders and other leaders at Michigan Medicine to plan, implement and manage communication strategies that are aligned and integrated with Michigan Medicine objectives.
Provides strategic communication, customer service, community outreach and advocacy initiatives to assure achievement of the mission, goals and objectives for Mott and Von Voigtlander hospitals.
Collaborate with Michigan Medicine department leaders to formulate strategies to improve work place culture and increase faculty and staff engagement, advocacy and ambassadorship.
Partner with Michigan Medicine leaders and the Department of Communication to create synergies and desired results with various target audiences through integrated plans for marketing and promotion of the hospitals.
Partner with Department of Communication to strengthen understanding and awareness of Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital programs, services and brand, internally and externally, through comprehensive communication strategies that elevate the profiles of the hospitals regionally, nationally and internationally.
Work with Department of Communication public relations representative to help position C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital among key audiences notably media reporters, editors and producers (news and information programming) and healthcare influencers.
Create effective and strong community relationships through strategic outreach and engagement initiatives that will increase the profile of Mott and Von Voigtlander and Women’s Hospitals regionally, nationally and internationally.
Direct the content creation for hospital intranet and mottchildren.org. Develop, research and write stories, profiles, news and announcements for distribution to faculty and staff.
In collaboration with other Michigan Medicine leaders enhance brand and position C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital as a premier community partner.
Serve on advisory committees, councils and other administrative groups advancing the overall strategic objectives for Children’s and Women’s hospitals.

A Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, strategic communication, journalism, business communication, marketing or related field is necessary. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
At least five (5) progressively responsible professional experience in communications
Demonstrated experience in generating client satisfaction and providing solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with solid understanding of social media
Direct experience in a matrixed health care and/or academic medical center
General supervision is received from the Chief Operating Officer - Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital (C&W) and the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, Michigan Medicine
