Director of Public Relations, Communications & Marketing - The Fletcher School - (20001703) Description Lead a team of communications and marketing professionals in developing and implementing an integrated strategic communications, marketing and engagement plan that will advance Fletcher's strategic goals and objectives; amplify its voice; and enhance the Fletcher brand to broaden its impact and enrich its reputation across multiple stakeholders. Strategy and Senior Leadership - Develop a comprehensive and evolving strategic communications and marketing plan that effectively represents the Dean's vision and the school's priorities, high-level messages, and high-profile projects and events.
- Enhance and strengthen the School's engagement with multiple audiences, including potential degree program candidates, educators, alumni, and thought leaders in the global affairs field, and other key influencers in media and business communities.
- Create and oversee the implementation of plans to advance and promote Fletcher's priorities through a variety of platforms including social media, the press, web presence, and print publications.
- Drive the development and growth of a compelling digital presence and take a proactive approach to media relations and social media efforts to ensure that Fletcher's messages and stories reach key target audiences and have impact.
- Act as a chief marketing spokesperson for the Dean's Office and the School for external audiences, including news media and professional communities.
- Serve as expert communications consultant to Dean, faculty, and senior administration, as appropriate.
- Advise and collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues to plan and execute a communication and marketing strategy for new school initiatives (e.g., faculty research and news).
- Oversee internal Fletcher communications programs, platforms, and student/staff outreach.
Crisis Management - Work closely with the Dean and Dean's office to effectively and efficiently develop communications required in response to crisis situations.
- Leads risk management and reputational management efforts, especially on sensitive public relations issues.
Management of the CPRM Office - Provide leadership and inclusive supervision and management to the team, and promote collaborative interdisciplinary teamwork, open communication, and responsible self-direction within the department.
- Connects the editorial and marketing functions within the department to ensure that work is integrated, mutually supportive, and aligned with institutional goals.
- Establishes annual objectives for staff, measuring effectiveness against goals and develops staff.
- Fosters the spirit of teamwork, innovation, and entrepreneurship that is necessary for a forward-looking marketing and communications effort.
- Briefs CPRM staff on school developments to help foster greater connections and to facilitate understanding of implications for the Department's work.
Quality Control/Reputation Protection - Maintains broad oversight of the front-facing information, visual display, and functioning of the Fletcher website and social media channels.
- Oversees staff effort to maintain the smooth and effective operation of Fletcher's Content Management System.
- Establishes and maintains productive collaboration with Fletcher's information technology group, which provides the server and back-end support for the website.
- Employs metrics and analytics to ensure efficacy of all online and offline communications programs.
- Leads the effort to facilitate School-wide communications, branding, and messages.
- Provides final edit and sign-off on all significant communications and marketing pieces (Ed. magazine, admissions, and development pieces).
Liaison/Representative within Fletcher and at the Tufts University level - Builds effective relationships with a broad range of members of the Tufts community, provides guidance on a wide range of publication needs in both print and electronic media, social media, and coordinates use of constituent data with other Fletcher departments.
- Serves as the point person for faculty engagement; meeting with them, understanding their work and needs, translating those needs to our communications and marketing team, and maintaining open lines of communications to report successes and cultivate future collaboration.
- In collaboration with Fletcher Research Center leaders and their respective communications staff, ensures integration and consistency with Fletcher's overall brand, messaging and strategic objectives.
- Strategically promotes services and capabilities of the CPRM team to faculty, in order to encourage collaboration and strengthen the overall brand success of the school. Helps faculty to develop communications strategies and matches with the capabilities of CPRM.
- Works with leaders in admissions, development, executive education, and the centers to understand their unit goals and help translate them into actionable CPRM work.
Qualifications Basic Requirements: - Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of directly related marketing, advertising, and public relations experience. M.B.A. degree preferred.

- Must be able to consistently exercise sound judgment and possess strong skills in the areas of leadership, and people and fiscal management.
- Experienced in managing outside resources to deliver meaningful results on time and on budget.
- Demonstrated seniority and gravitas to enforce policy and culture across all stakeholder groups including faculty, alumni, Advisory Board, and senior University Administration.
