GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for all web development, design, and content for Augsburg University and Luther Seminary; establish web standards and strategy for both institutions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work with Marketing and Communication department to coordinate department and institution-wide communication initiatives from planning to execution; develop and implement new and effective electronic communication vehicles for internal and external audiences.
- Build and customize WordPress themes, plugins; other front-end web development work as needed.
- Work with website content managers to ensure website content is accurate, follows accessibility and usability best practices, and adheres to brand standards.
- Write and update parts of the current website content and other electronic communication vehicles to ensure timely and accurate information that is consistent and relevant across all areas of the university and seminary; direct other Marketing and Communication staff in updating web content.
- Oversee the development and implementation of ongoing training programs for website content managers to educate them on website management, user experience (UX) best practices, and accessibility standards.
- Coordinate communications efforts, working directly with the creative and editorial teams and others, toward a re-invention of communication strategies leveraging communication tools.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Office Marketing and Communication and the Information Technology division, acting as a coordinator for projects that overlap both groups.
- Provide technical support for all marketing projects: includes web and new media support in addition to other technologies that would benefit the office's mission and workflow; serve as a technical consultant for all web-related projects on campus.
- Use Google Analytics and other tools to measure and improve website performance and lead generation; provide recommendations for search engine optimization (SEO) of website content
- Responsible for the institutions' online content management systems, from initial selection to maintenance to transition to new systems: will train and direct marketing employees in the daily operations of the CMSs.
- Develop and integrate emerging communication methods and technologies to enhance the user experience and the institutions' communication channels; coordinate complex, interactive multimedia content (including video and audio).
- Supervise Web and Email Coordinator and student workers, providing guidance around institutional and departmental priorities.
ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: - Make editorial recommendations about what should receive attention based on strategic priorities; communicate these stories and activities effectively using traditional and new media.
- Serve as a contact for electronic communication-related questions, issues, and ideas for the institutions; analyze internal information to identify and prioritize communication opportunities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with the departments that underscore confidence in Marketing and Communication; solicit and publish graphic-rich news and information from across both institutions; work collaboratively with all divisions and departments to ensure effective use and consistent integration of institutional communications vehicles.

Requirements: JOB SPECIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience required.
- Knowledge of optimizing images for web through Photoshop or other tools.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP.
- Strong knowledge of WordPress, including back-end development such as creating and editing themes and plugins.
- Strong knowledge of best practices for web design, including user experience (UX) and web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Ability to use Google Analytics to generate reports on website performance.
- Strong technical aptitude; ability and willingness to investigate and master new technologies.
- Strong knowledge of search engine optimization best practices.
- Familiarity with writing styles for marketing/communication, features, web and news media; familiarity with technical writing.
