The Texas Exes, the alumni association for The University of Texas at Austin, announces the immediate opening for the full-time, non-exempt position of Digital Content Coordinator.
The Digital Content Coordinator, who reports directly to the Director of Content, is a crucial piece of a robust multimedia Communications department. Your job is to coordinate and enrich the digital and social channels of the Texas Exes. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled communicator with a background in writing and social media. You are a news and culture junkie who is always up on what’s trending. You are well-versed on the major issues facing UT Austin and care about its future.
Major Job Functions
Manage and handle the day-in, day-out programming of Texas Exes’ fast-growing social mediachannels and help expand the brand into new platforms.
Respond to questions, comments, and inquiries on social media in a timely and personable manner.
Dream up and execute new content to delight and engage our audience and expand our brand presence.
Work closely with the Alcalde staff to create social campaigns and drive web traffic to our editorial content.
Strategize new ways to get maximum exposure for content, events, and campaigns.
Develop and execute live social coverage of Texas Exes events.
Work closely with Texas Exes marketing team to develop content for and help push out content marketing campaigns created to appeal to specific audiences.
Support the Communications team with administrative tasks like bulk mailings, photo archive management, and web content uploads, among others.
Troubleshoot bugs and issues with supplied content; tailor photos, videos, and other media to perform best on each individual platform.
Manage Texas Exes and Alcalde web presence as it relates to social media, including but not limited to writing web posts, crafting headlines, managing metadata, and sizing/uploading social images.
Essential Job Requirements
Ability to meet multiple deadlines daily.
1-2 years’ writing experience either for a brand or as a journalist; a passion for storytelling and experience with crafting a distinct writing voice.
You love to be online. The latest viral trends, tweets, and memes are an instinctual part of your lexicon.
You have an eye for what gets people to click and can clearly communicate ideas with our in-house design team and video producer.
Familiarity with AP style and high level of proofreading/copyediting skills.
Ability to multitask, re-prioritize, and work quickly.
Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
Other Helpful Skills
You like collaboration, give-and-take, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Basic knowledge of HTML. Knowledge of CMSes also a plus, such as WordPress.
Experience with (or a passion to learn!) tracking social metrics and measuring audience engagement.
Experience with working with designers and marketers to execute campaigns.
Experience project management software or content calendar system (i.e. Asana, Trello, etc.)
