Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Edit/Media Specialist for video for the Office of University News and Media Relations, part of the Department of University Communications and Marketing (UCM), as the department's lead video producer. The Senior Edit/Media Specialist is responsible for overseeing video content planning, production, sharing and storage for University Communications and Marketing. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conceptualizes and produces timely and high-quality videos that showcase Rutgers leaders, faculty, staff, students and initiatives to a diverse audience through a variety of marketing and distribution channels, including Rutgers Today, Rutgers Magazine, the @RutgersU social media channels, and the Rutgers.edu universitywide website. Strategizes and creates videos for brand and marketing campaigns and programs. Creates and manages the video production calendar for the department. Hires and manages external video crews, freelancers, and production companies as required to meet UCM's video needs. Properly names and tags all videos for use by UCM and other Rutgers units. Recruits and manages a team of video interns and student employees to support UCM's video production and video storage needs. Collaborates with UCM colleagues to understand the priorities and strategic messaging of UCM and to proactively and collaboratively design and produce videos and other audiovisual products that accomplish the department's goals and help deliver strategic messaging.Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field or an combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of five (5) years of experience using a variety of technology to tell a story, including video, photography, text, and other elements.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to create and run a production schedule that reflects the department's priorities and message proof points, and manage the production of stories that appeal to faculty, staff, students and general public. Excellent video editing skills and experience using digital video editing systems, such as Final Cut Pro, and photo editing programs, such as Photoshop. Strong writing and editing skills. Experience producing content for social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Snapchat, as well as an understanding of social media trends in higher education. Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities are critical Ability to use good judgment in dealing with sensitive issues, to work independently and as part of a fast-moving team, and to handle multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines. Ability to effectively assign, manage, and provide feedback and direction to others, including interns and student employees. Critical thinker and creative problem solver. Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively independently and with a fast-moving team, with colleagues in UCM and across the university, and with a broad range of people, including high-level executives, administrators, faculty, staff and students Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications or journalism.Equipment Utilized: Must be able to use DSLR style cameras to shoot video and Final Cut X and Adobe Creative Suite to edit images and video.Physical Demands and Work Environment: Position requires standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing.
