Department: Center for Civic Engagement Salary/Grade: NEX/10
This job exists to support general operations and assist with the implementation of programs sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) at Northwestern. Responsibilities include logistical support of CCE programs and events, and basic financial & general operations for the Center. The position will also manage day-to-day communications and online marketing efforts.
Documents & Databases
Enters information into spreadsheets &/or databases.
Compiles routine reports, statistics, tables, charts, etc. from readily available information.
Coordinates content maintenance of websites &/or blogs.
Manages CCE social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Supports management of CCE website including writing news stories and updates, as well as keeping other content up-to-date.
Processes accounts payables &/or receivables.
Manages facilities and supplies.
Verifies income &/or expense.
Enters, tracks, & maintains documentation & logs of financial transactions.
Ensures that charges have posted to appropriate accounts.
Assists with reconciliation of accounts.
Reviews budget statements.
Compiles and files budget statements.
Coordinates events which may include scheduling rooms &/or guest speaker & arranging for routine materials, technology & refreshments.
Support logistics, including space, transportation, refreshments, materials, and supplies, for CCE programs and events.
Provides information via phone, e-mail, mail, etc.
Creates and disseminates email bulletins/newsletters.
Greets visitors, responds to phone and email inquiries.
Represents supervisor in routine/standard situations with various levels of personnel both internally & externally.
Represents CCE at campus and community events.
Outreaches to potential partners on campus and in the community.
Guides students through admissions process.
Processes program applications and registrations, corresponds with applicants, manages enrollment lists and forms.
Coordinates work of receptionists, program assts, temporary/work-study students, etc.
Assists with management of CCE student staff and ambassadors.
Participates in NU campus and CCE department responsibilities including staff meetings and events.
Other CCE-related responsibilities, as assigned.
A high school diploma or equivalent required.
2 years of administrative support or other relevant experience required.

Experience working with college students/youth.
Strong organizational, management and leadership abilities.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet key tasks as scheduled.
Demonstrated ability to use basic and some advanced functions of Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) the internet and web-based forms.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with university staff, students, and the general community.
Experience with service and/or service-learning programs.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Familiarity with social media, graphic design, and web content management systems.
