Digital Communications Coordinator

The Dalton School—a leading and high profile K-12 independent school located in New York City—seeks an experienced writer, editor, proofreader, and digital content creator to join our communications team. Your primary responsibilities will be to write, edit, proofread, and post news stories, announcements, and emails and help manage the school’s website platform. The Digital Communications Coordinator will shoot and edit photographs and footage to produce finished videos and photo galleries, along with website content management. We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter who can help communicate the schools’ identity, strengths, and accomplishments and juggle multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience, will have a helpful, friendly manner, and will be comfortable interacting with faculty, students, parents, and alumni. A sense of humor is a plus!

This is a full-time, year-round position, available immediately, with excellent benefits.

Responsibilities:
The Coordinator will assist the Strategic and Creative Media Director and the Director of Advancement Communications and work closely with the Communications Associate on the following tasks which include, but are not limited to:

• Post regularly and help manage the School’s public and private websites (dalton.org)
• Collect, create, and produce engaging content (stories, photography & video) that reinforces the school's image and branding both online and in the school’s alumni magazine.
• Create and share multimedia galleries and a photo/video archive
• Post regularly and help manage the school's social networks on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, and YouTube
• Analyze and maintain email and content distribution lists and send messages for communication with all constituents
• Coordinate pushpage distribution as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualities and skills:

• Work effectively in a team environment
• Have strong artistic sense in graphics, photography, and video
• Interact with the community and the public with diplomacy and discretion
• Write polished copy, edit submissions, and proofread in a deadline-focused environment— with keen attention to grammar and accuracy
• Work with the Strategic and Creative Media Director to manage web content and systems (Blackbaud onMessage Page/Content Manager or Platform Manager, a plus)
• Meet graphic design and communications challenges with visual and intellectual creativity
• Work closely with contributors on various projects while meeting strict project and publication timelines and deadlines.
• Intermediate or advanced software expertise on the following platforms: Mac, social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), Adobe Creative Suite, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office)
