The Corporate Communications team is responsible for protecting and enhancing the brand and reputation of the firm with media, clients and other external stakeholders. Its activities also underpin employee engagement and cultural change by managing and implementing a range of internal communication strategies from executive-led Town Halls and intranet content to charitable volunteering. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE With thousands of employees across EMEA, keeping the business up-to-date and connected, especially as agile working continues, is of vital importance. This role will see you assist the Corporate Communications team in creating and delivering clear, interesting and thoughtful everyday content, as well as campaigns and support of the broader corporate communications strategy. Your role will be split with an 80% weighting to internal communications and a 20% support to external communications. You will be expected to lead on - and provide thorough feedback on - a number of key communications projects and activities, as well as supporting on initiatives relating to CSR, brand, external communications and digital. The corporate communications team is small, so time-management and the willingness to be flexible and be able to deliver high quality content is a must. The team manages: External stakeholder communications Internal communications Brand and Digital Corporate Social Responsibility KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support with the development and activation of MUFG's corporate communications programme by: - Acting as gate-keeper for all internal communications content requests across the organisation from various departments by managing and regularly updating a centralised content planner for daily news and projects in the pipeline
- Supporting the maintenance and development of internal communication channels across the organisation, including generating daily content and uploading this to our internal platforms for various entities within the business; creating 'hubs' on the internal platform to provide employees with key updates on fast-changing topics and working with the team to integrate our new Intranet platform
- Coordination and generation of content for global channels such as the global employee magazine and intranet, providing ad hoc support for proofing, editing and writing across all channels, internationally and regionally
- Supporting the team in developing copy and content for brand collateral such as advertising
- Providing input into employee communications strategy as part of the wider integrated team
- Assisting with the implementation of a media relations strategy for MUFG in EMEA
- Being opportunistic in spotting and acting on online and print media opportunities, and having an awareness of the headlines of the day
- Day to day management within the public relations team, which will consist of supporting, creating and/or maintaining media lists, drafting social media content for Twitter and LinkedIn, helping with daily podcasts, as well as supporting on press releases, coordinating media training or photography shoots
- Ensuring content on MUFG'S EMEA website is up-to-date, well-written, and optimised for the medium, as well as supporting in the creation of video and podcast content which will be uploaded to this platform on a regular basis.
- Supporting MUFG's internal events team with employees' attendance at events
- Executive Communications support, including playing a key role in the communications support for Town Hall meetings.
WORK EXPERIENCE Essential: - Experience in an internal communications or public relations role, either in house or agency
- Proven experience across a broad range of corporate communications channels, including intranet, web, traditional and social media, sponsorship etc.
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, working to tight deadlines and managing a number of projects at once
- Proven experience of collaborative and effective teamwork with both internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees of all levels of seniority
- Understanding of how effective internal communications can boost employee engagement
- Client orientated, with a clear understanding of how PR, online and social media fit into the overall marketing and Business Development mix
Preferred: - Experience in the financial or professional services industry
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Functional / Technical Competencies: Essential - Competent in all Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Proven experience of using programmes such as SurveyMonkey and Shutterstock to conduct primary data and source effective imagery for internal and external use
- Experience using internal platform such as Sharepoint 2010 to upload and manage intranet content
- Experience using media support platforms such as Signal A.I., TweetDeck, Bit.ly to effectively collate and create news and social media content
Education / Qualifications: Preferred: - Bachelor's degree in a Marketing, Communications or English discipline
