Media Relations Manager (2100365) - Florham Park, NJ
Where the Chemistry Happens
Reporting to BASF's regional Media Relations leader, this position supports a range of corporate media relations programs and activities including the development of news releases and press statements, messaging documents, and internal positioning papers. In this role, you will serve as corporate spokesperson with local and regional media and work closely with the Corporate Site and Community Relations and Social Media leaders to ensure consistent messaging and adherence to BASF's One Voice Policy. The position is based at BASF's North American headquarters in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Travel for the role is estimated at approximately 10% of the time.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your education and experience in corporate communications and media relations, you will serve as the essential link between the Media Relations team in North America and Communications colleagues in the various regional Business Units, support colleagues on North American news and information, and ensure regional adherence to global BASF Communications policies and procedures.
Your solid understanding of how media can impact the market's view of a company will be essential as you support the development and implementation of media relations strategies in North America.
Your advanced communications and English-speaking skills, as well as exceptional writing ability (Associated Press style is a plus), analytic and persuasive skills and the ability to multi-task effectively will serve you well as you complete daily tasks including the review of regional news releases submitted by site & community relations managers and marketing communications managers to ensure adherence to BASF's One Voice Policy and news style requirements.
Your flexibility and agility to respond quickly and be available during off-work hours will be critical as you support the regional incident response/crisis communications team as needed. You will also support the regional communication team's issues management and news release planning & process management to ensure BASF is prepared with approved statements and executives are amply informed.
Working well in a team, you will serve as a BASF spokesperson with national, regional and local news media, and help develop and maintain relationships with key journalists in the region.
Relying on your solid skill set to analyze, prioritize and shape information, along with your networking and intercultural collaboration skills and understanding of media needs (including experience in leveraging social media for media relations), you will develop and implement a wide range of media relations outreach tactics (news releases, press kits, backgrounders, media pitches, stand-by-statements, reports and fact sheets, talking points, social media etc.).
Your keen attention to detail will be exercised as you track and maintain systems for reporting and measuring media relations activities and regional coverage.
