This position leads and manages the planning, production and presentation of news (news, sports, weather and other essential information) for WOUB Public Media on television, radio, online, mobile and through social media.
This position defines and monitors ethical, legal and editorial standards while operating within federal, state and local laws and within the guidelines of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) rules for non-commercial public broadcasting.
The Editor in Chief acts as the top news authority and is responsible for the news journalistic integrity on all station platforms.
The position directs daily news gathering and distribution with staff and students and also directs long-term multimedia projects. It also creates and monitors any news partnerships with other schools within the Scripps College of Communication or with other units of Ohio University. Mentors and guides students (both paid and volunteer) as a part of WOUB’s experiential learning commitment.
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or a related field.
At least six (6) years of related experience, with at least three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Master’s Degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
