The Head of Newsletter Products will have P&L responsibility for the newsletter line of business with goals for subscriber acquisition, reader engagement, and revenue growth. S/he will work collaboratively with a team of editors, developers, designers, product managers, marketers, and sales executives to achieve these goals.
The Head of Newsletter Products will prioritize and develop requirements for critical parts of Adweek’s newsletter business. S/he will lead initiatives to attract and serve members of the Advertising and Marketing community – with the goal of producing solutions that help marketing professionals do their jobs better.
The ideal candidate knows the newsletter space and is excited about its potential as a personal connection between Adweek’s community and its content, events, and resources. S/he is curious, analytical, and has a knack for testing and optimization, with experience shipping news, information, entertainment, education, or B2B media products – especially newsletters! Newsroom or journalism experience is a plus.
Develop strategy, tactics and campaigns that drive business goals, such as audience growth, engagement, acquisition, reach and maintenance.
Analyze opportunities and make data-driven recommendations about new newsletter subject matter, content types, audience acquisition strategies, monetization models, and product features.
Analyze and manage the business against key performance metrics, annual and quarterly targets. Own and optimize the full experience of a newsletter subscriber, from creating easy sign-up to intuitive. preference management.
Understand and empathize with user challenges based on experience with content management systems and editorial teams.
Gather and document product requirements from multiple stakeholders for business partners and technical product teams including business rationale, user stories, functional specifications, and wireframing.
Manage complex projects involving multiple internal stakeholder groups as well as external vendors and partners.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the company.
Demonstrate understanding of email user psychology, behavioral economics, and user experience trends.
Partner with leadership in Editorial, Sales, and Marketing to drive client acquisition and engagement.
You have 5+ years of experience in a product management role.
You shave domain expertise in either the news or media industry with experience in developing highly successful newsletters.
You are familiar with newsletter best practices, newsletter service provider platform tools and analytics, publishing tools, analytics tools and social marketing technology and platforms.
You have successful record in the delivery of new features or products, from initial concept to product-market fit.
You have strong experience researching market trends, identifying new opportunities, and conceptualizing offerings to capture these opportunities.
You can collaborate with sales team members to identify revenue opportunities and make sales, as well as communicate with client team members throughout the project lifecycle.
You possess excellent remote and in-person communication skills. You can explain complexity to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You are very familiar with product management best practice & methodologies in competitive markets.
You are very familiar with website and mobile technologies and modern digital product designs and user experience.
You are up to date with developments in digital product offerings and decentralized web technologies and can synthesize new concepts and capabilities into innovative solutions.
You demonstrate a passion for creating outstanding solutions and continuing self-education.
