The Harvard-MIT Center for Regulatory Science (CRS) seeks a creative, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team as Communications and Outreach Coordinator. Reporting to the Harvard-MIT Center for Regulatory Science Program Director and working closely with the Center's leadership, the Communications and Outreach Coordinator will support the Center's activities in 2 major areas: (1) communications; (2) administrative support, including meeting and event support.
CRS brings together a vibrant community of biomedical research scientists and physicians in academia, industry, and regulatory agencies who seek to improve the development and evaluation of medical products. The Center serves as a platform that fosters interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder discussions on regulatory science topics and infrastructure needs. CRS supports a Regulatory Science Fellowship, local and international conferences, and a portfolio of research collaborations with regulatory agencies, industry, and other academic institutions.
The Communications and Outreach Coordinator is expected to adeptly communicate with stakeholders at all levels (senior government officials, faculty, industry practitioners, fellows, students, etc.) to effectively represent the Center. A successful candidate in this role will have outstanding writing and communication skills, be proactive, have excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in a complex environment. Demonstrated project management, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and have strong interpersonal skills are critical core requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Website content and design
Leads the development of website content and initiates regular updates to ensure an engaging online presence of the Center
Drafts novel content related to CRS research, events, publications and other activities
Coordinates website design and functionality updates
Manages relationship and workload of contracted developer
Leads the production of CRS bi-monthly newsletter. This includes oversight of the CRS student liaison who is responsible for content generation and regulatory science news curation, communication with faculty to promote CRS events and publications, drafting novel content
Designs and produces collaterals as needed. Updates existing materials upon consultation with CRS leadership
Works with the Program Director to conceptualize, plan and manage large scale events such as annual meetings and ad-hoc events
Leads vendor research, selection, negotiation and oversight in support of virtual and in-person events
Leads operational planning for events and serve as day-of logistics lead
Coordinates the monthly Regulatory Science Forum, including speaker invitation and schedule
Leads student engagement activities that include a Student-Faculty mixer, an annual Doctoral Student symposium, and events in support of students' career development. Liaises with Harvard faculty for planning such activities.
Provides logistics support for events organized by the Center. Manages internal inventory and orders as needed
Leads marketing and outreach strategy & execution in support of events
Creates marketing materials for events or Center needs (banners, brochures, agendas, swag design, email templates)
Oversees the CRS social media accounts and crafts content to promote CRS activities and amplify the online presence
Maintains the calendar of CRS internal and external events and helps schedule meetings as needed
Oversees the CRS shared email addresses and mailing distribution lists
Compiles information and written materials for CRS reports
Other duties as required in support of CRS activities
This is a two-year full benefits eligible term position from date of hire, with possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.

3 or more years of experience in communications, marketing or related field; education may count towards experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible with rapidly changing priorities and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of graphic designs programs and software such as Adobe Creative Suite
Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office suite, Wordpress and social media skills
Familiarity with Marketing platforms such as Mailchimp
Prior academic or non-profit communication experience preferred
