Full Time - Mid-Level (Senior Producer, Reporter, Editor)
Wirecutter is seeking a trends writer to join our growing team of writers and editors who produce timely stories that highlight Wirecutter’s authority in the product review space.
As the trends writer, you will report directly to the trends editor and be responsible for writing both quick-turnaround and long-lead seasonal content that touches on a variety of editorial beats, such as outdoor gear, tech, and style. This role has the potential to be remote.
Research, report, and write short-form posts (and long-form, as needed) that touch on trends or seasonality through SEO or Wirecutter-related news events/viral moments.
Mobilize around search trends and retail and news events (i.e., Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday), to curate Wirecutter picks and our expert advice and help us capture search traffic and buying intent.
Work collaboratively on a team with another writer. Assist/review/edit their work, as necessary.
Interview experts and review academic journal articles and other scientific data; methodically scan user reviews and forums to find what truly matters to readers
Collaborate with editors to conceive new content and formats and move ideas from pitch to publish.
Collaborate with photo, video and illustration departments to produce visuals to support blog posts.
Work with beat writers and editors on shared content; work with our community team to respond to reader feedback and questions; work with social, newsletter and video teams on off-platform strategy for your stories.
May be required to attend conferences, trade shows and product news events as needed to build contacts and expertise in relevant topic areas.

2+ years of professional writing experience
Established experience working cleanly with tight deadlines
Excellent task management skills and experience working in a remote work environment; ability to balance multiple reporting projects and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent news judgment and a detailed sense of what people are talking about online.
