Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Director for Creative Services and Marketing. This position is responsible for maintaining and advancing the Union University brand through effective marketing strategy and creative direction. This position supervises the marketing, advertising, and design services for the University community. This position also is responsible for the management of project bids from printers and other vendors.

(80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown, Hendersonville, and Memphis, Tenn. Play a primary role in maintaining and advancing the Union brand, both visually and conceptually.
Oversee the development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan for Union University and its various areas based on best-available market and media research.
Oversee advertising purchases, placement and message.
Oversee the design and production of all project requests.
Supervise the Graphic Design Specialist position in Creative Services, working closely and cooperatively to produce quality work on deadline.
Provide oversight on market research and media buys ensuring the most effective use of University resources.
Supervise the student designer(s) position. Assign and delegate tasks, provide direction and ensure quality of work. When necessary, oversee the outsourcing of work to freelancers.
Assist in maintaining Union University’s visual identity, evaluating projects for compliance and updating the Branding Style Guide to ensure proper branding of the university.
Work with the Associate Vice President for University Communications to prioritize jobs and come up with creative solutions for special projects.
Meet with internal clients (university departments) to discuss marketing and promotional needs. Brainstorm with colleagues to generate ideas for their projects.
Work with other Office of University Communications staff to develop design concepts, improve works in progress, and find additional creative ways to effectively tell the Union story.
Offer fresh creative concepts and direction to OUC team members based on Union’s strengths and marketing needs.
Special attention should be given to the needs of the Office of the President, University Relations and Undergraduate Admissions.
Conceive ideas, concepts and campaigns.
Create designs and layouts for print, web, on-screen and other media. Provide proofs to internal clients for review.
Provide design support to web development personnel.
Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
Stay current with design trends, and participate in professional organizations as production schedules allow.
Coordinate relationships with printing vendors and manage all printing contracts for service.
Solicit, collect and evaluate printing bids, and make strong recommendations based on quality and price.
Perform press checks on any projects requiring extra quality control.
Complete other duties as may be assigned by the Associate Vice President for University Communications and Vice President for Advancement or University President.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in design, and at least five years of successful design and marketing experience with a company, agency, publication or institution.
Capacity to work in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment; knowledge of the printing industry and ability to provide purchasing expertise for print and promotional materials; proven skills in working with colleagues and students; professional work habits; a team-oriented attitude; and a willingness to represent Union University to its constituencies in a professional and effective manner.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat). Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
