The regional campuses of Ohio University invites applicants for the position of Coordinator of Campus Communications and External Relations.
Regional Higher Education (RHE) consists of five regional campuses and two centers serving students throughout southeastern and portions of central Ohio with a comprised enrollment of more than 6,000 students. For more information about Regional Higher Education, please visit www.ohio.edu/regional.
Reporting to the Director of Regional Higher Education Communications and External Relations, this position provides direct communication and external relations support for a regional campus and content expertise for the regional campus system with an area of emphasis on marketing, advertising and media buys.
Area of Emphasis – Marketing, Advertising and Media Buys: In collaboration with the Director, develop and execute regional system marketing, advertising, and media buying strategies. Work with marketing services staff within UCM to coordinate university-wide efforts and to leverage regional resources and opportunities. Develop, execute, and evaluate media campaigns for the regional system, monitoring costs and return on investment.
Collaborate with regional communication team members to develop and execute the unit's strategic communication plan. Work closely with colleagues across the unit and across the University to coordinate messaging and maintain efforts that align with the RHE vision and mission. Develop and distribute news and information, internally and externally via campus-based media, including press releases, campus publications, social media content, and web copy. Assess effectiveness to make improvements for future strategies.
Works closely with communication staff across the regional system to identify and execute system-wide efforts that also address local needs for web, recruitment/enrollment messaging, advertising/marketing, and social media.
Manage and execute social media strategy for the campus. Plan, create, publish, and moderate daily original content. Create consistent, accurate, and timely con tent suited to each platform, optimizing posts for the best performance for varying audiences. Share other University accounts' content as appropriate and interact cohesively to maintain OHIO brand and identity. Respond to incoming inquiries on each account to provide solutions.
Ensures university brand standards and expectations are strictly enforced for all locally created materials for internal and external audiences.
Serves as campus web resource, ensuring information is current and updated regularly.
Provides content expertise for the regional campus system. (See areas of emphasis)
Serves on Campus CIRT and other relevant committees, as appropriate.
Serves as campus contact to work with UCM for identified design needs (i.e. templates, print collateral, marketing materials, etc.)
Other duties as assigned.
Supports the campus dean in professional development efforts in the community and the region to promote external partnerships and opportunities for expanded campus programming.
Assists in submission of external funding and grant applications on behalf of the campus.
Assists in engaging regional stakeholders in initiatives of priority to the campus, to RHE, and to the University.
Assists the campus dean in developing and executing campus events, particularly those related to community relations and workforce development.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing or related field required.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and demonstrated initiative.
Master's degree in Communication, Marketing or related field preferred.
