Purpose of Position:
The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) seeks a creative, enthusiastic, results-driven Communications Coordinator to join their dynamic team. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting CEBS in communications, recruiting, marketing, and retention initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and disseminating communications from the CEBS Dean's office to a variety of constituents; managing college and departmental social media sites; planning and coordinating college-wide events; and developing and implementing marketing, recruiting, and retention initiatives. This position reports directly to the Dean of CEBS. The Communication Coordinator performs a variety of professional duties requiring a high degree of initiative, accuracy, judgment, knowledge, and discretion.
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Create and disseminate communications from the CEBS Dean's office to CEBS Department Heads/Directors, faculty, students, individuals and to the broader campus and community (including school systems and behavioral health agencies)
Assist in streamlining internal college communication efforts
Design and operationalize CEBS marketing campaigns and resources. Efforts will include various forms of content creation, familiarization with Facebook and Google Ads, and a knack for capturing the WKU spirit while remaining within brand standards.
Develop and implement CEBS recruiting and retention initiatives and materials.
Develop and implement CEBS social media campaigns and engage in community management of social media sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Efforts will include writing, organizing, and planning content in cadence with WKU CEBS announcements and initiatives.
Create content for student features, letters, emails, press releases, newsletters, speeches, remarks, welcomes, ribbon cuttings, etc. on behalf of the CEBS Dean. Efforts will include developing relationships with local education beat writers and journalists.
Solicit, edit, and distribute CEBS news and media relations to the WKU community and beyond (in coordination with WKU Media Relations Office)
Serve as liaison to the WKU Communication and Marketing team
Oversee CEBS Student Ambassadors
Plan and coordinate CEBS Functions and Events to include:
Ordering food and supplies

Plans, schedules, and prioritizes work activities and assignments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of assigned duties in meeting required deadlines (i.e. successful project management)

Shows enthusiasm in serving CEBS students, faculty, and staff

Possesses computer literacy and proficiency to include Microsoft Office Suite
Possesses excellent listening, written, verbal communication skills
Please note, the occasional weekend and evening may be required pending university and college events.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 2 years related experience.
Salary Grade: 107 Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000
