ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2 , Chemical Engineering , to perform complex and diverse duties in support of the Communications and Student Offices. Will streamline efforts between the two functions regarding the promotion of social media presence when recruiting students and faculty and minimizing the duplication of effort. Responsibilities include supporting social media campaigns and strategies, including drafting and editing social media posts, analysis, and reporting; writing basic news articles where content is provided; performing media research, including online coverage of the department, faculty, alumni, and external alumni news; posting/advertising events around campus; updating the department's web content; providing support during lectures and seminars, including advertising, logistics, and collateral; assisting with administrative tasks; creating posters and flyers; providing support during events (e.g., RSVPs, ordering food, set-up, catering contact, and clean-up); maintaining and tracking student forms and other documentation/filings; providing support during student seminars (e.g., creating seminar schedules, setting up feedback surveys, tracking attendance, and publicizing) and thesis defenses (e.g., collecting materials, publicizing, tracking attendance, submitting to MIT Libraries, and updating student records); and assisting with financial tasks, e.g., RFPs, tracking receipts/purchases, and ordering supplies.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years' administrative/office/related experience; excellent organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to write and edit correspondence for grammar and prepare short documents, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently and as part of a team; discretion and good judgment with confidential information/issues; proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media platforms; and communications experience. PREFERRED : bachelor's degree; proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; and journalism, public relations, and/or marketing communications experience. Job #19679-5
