Detailed Description: The Assistant Director of Communications is a creative individual who will lead the development of compelling content for the Kroc School's national and international audiences. Working collaboratively with faculty, students, program officers, and peacebuilding partners, the AD will lead distinctive communication initiatives that create excitement and increase awareness of the School, its programs and its impact. The individual in this position must be an effective storyteller, entrepreneurial and creative.

Duties & Responsibilities:
School Content Production, Project Management, and Design:
Implement the Kroc School's editorial and communication priorities and assess impact. Coordinate the development, production and distribution of Kroc School's communication outputs, including program brochures/ebooks, newsletters, invitations, ads, direct mail pieces and other related communication outputs.
This includes the following:
Lead in the communication conceptualization, development, production and distribution of written and visual program brochures, bulletins and direct mail campaigns Generate written and visual outputs for various printed and digital communications to achieve the School's annual goals and fulfill the four strategic priorities Benchmark other Schools to generate new ideas and to keep abreast of emerging trends Manage outside vendors involved in the School's communication-related projects, including providing clear guidance on services required, managing production schedules and deadlines, and ensuring quality Coordinate the delivery and distribution of Kroc School printed and digital communications Create data analytics to assess impact of communication activities and communicate results with the School and university Assist the Dean in being an effective communicator with key stakeholders by providing specific ideas, assisting with drafts, conducting independent research, and giving sound editorial guidance Identify opportunities for storytelling about the School Interview alumni, faculty, administrators, staff, students and guest speakers to research and compile information to create content and themes important to the Kroc School's messaging and priorities
Kroc School Website/Social Media Strategist:
Oversee the Kroc School social media strategy across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media channels that reach the Kroc School's audience.
Supervise the Kroc School website and coordinate with outside/IT resources in regards to university alignment and new developments Oversee website content and maintenance schedules to ensure that every unit's webpage is assigned to an active content owner and is routinely reviewed and updated Advise and support the Dean, Kroc IPJ Directors, CPC leaders, and faculty on social media strategy and educate other school personnel on the impact of social media, assisting with developing messages that are consistent with the overall communication and branding strategy
Audiovisual Production and Innovation:
Lead fresh audiovisual materials to enhance the visibility and reputation of the School, making all necessary production arrangements for audiovisual production of marquee events and initiatives
Develop innovative audiovisual initiatives Conceptualize and produce videos for promoting individuals and units Oversee the maintenance of photograph archives, with easy access of materials for use
Media Relations: Oversee the Kroc School's media relations efforts, with responsibilities including but not limited to:
Develop relationships with news media and serve as contact handling a variety of requests Create, update and maintain media lists Working in coordination with USD Media, assist media with finding faculty experts Respond to reporter requests in a timely fashion Monitor media coverage of the Kroc school, provide monthly media reports and analyze reporting trends
Work with the Budget and Administrative Manager to manage the annual communication budget.
This is management and leadership position within the Kroc School and requires significant prior experience and a successful track record with varied responsibilities of the position listed above.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Emphasis in communications, journalism or related field is preferred.
Three years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, digital marketing, social media for business purposes, communications, audiovisual production. In addition, this individual will have proven expertise in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), the internet, Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), knowledge of website content publishing software and AP writing style. Must have demonstrated commitment to issues of DEI and social justice.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree.
Experience: Five years of proven and successful experience in writing, editing, marketing, communications, web communications, social media for business purposes, public relations and managing projects that include web usability, project management and production. In addition, this individual will have proven expertise in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), the internet, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and knowledge of Contribute, Photoshop, Publisher/InDesign, and AP style. Previous experience in a higher education highly preferred.
