Reporting to the Chief of Staff, serve as writer and editor for the Office of the President in primary areas as outlined: OOP communications, speech writing, social media content creation and donor communications. Maintain the highest level of professionalism in working with internal and external constituencies including University leadership, trustees, volunteers, faculty, staff and students.
Serve as writer and editor for the OOP, researching and preparing draft correspondence for the President and Chief of Staff
Responsible for review of daily correspondence routed from the President's office. Draft and prepare correspondence
Serve as the lead office resource for University-wide information, regularly researching and consulting all campus publications to keep abreast of University affairs
Work closely with the Executive Director of Communications and University leaders to facilitate the rapid flow of information
Proof and edit communications, briefing and background materials and mailings for dissemination from the OOP as requested
Develop draft speeches, talking points, citations, articles and communications for OOP
Maintain donor correspondence database
Conduct research as needed
Keep abreast of industry trends, news and provide updates to OOP for consideration for communications
Staffing president at on campus and off campus events
Be an integral part of the Office of the President's team including staffing, planning and executing events and daily office requirements
Prepare materials, background for key appointments
Manage social posts at events
Maintain database of donor correspondence
Support research and event planning including onsite event support for OOP events
Help oversee social media channels including content creation and engagement
Coordinate distribution of presidential messaging with MARCOM
Assist with coordination and staffing Commencement, Convocation, and other special University events as needed
When needed help manage presidential calendar and travel schedule
Be well versed in development database
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of professional work experience in writing, communications or a related field.
Skills & Competencies:
Superior writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communications skills
Strong organizational and project management skills, detail orientation, and ability to prioritize and bring to completion multiple tasks
Demonstrated ability to assimilate complex information, understand multifaceted concepts, and translate these into compelling prose.
Strong, discerning research skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain trusted, confidential and professional relationship with University and external constituents.
Sensitivity to confidential information
Ability to use substantial judgment, initiative, and critical thinking in performing duties
