JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position serves as the GSM Public Relations specialist and is the primary resource for all public relation and communication efforts of the UT Graduate School of Medicine (GSM). The position is responsible for distributing and promoting news items and scholarly achievements in medical education and research to multiple GSM audiences, ensuring consistent and professional messaging across all platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Writing original content and editing duties in recurring publications/newsletters including Scope, Faculty in the Media, news articles, Frontiers.
Ensures GSM writing style standards and works with departments and our clinical partner (UTMC) to ensure differing styles are used accurately among publications.
Post occasional content and page updates to the GSM website. Create story pages where The GSM Scope will link to.
Photographs and edits Departmental photos - individual and group - for residents, fellows, faculty, students (match day), resident pinning ceremony.
Configures and operates a 3-bulb light set up for formal portraits of all faculty and residents. Outdoor flash set ups and small indoor off the camera set ups may be requested. Setup, arrange lighting, capture ambient or direct speaker(s) sound. Video editing and review.
Responsible for the maintenance and tracking of UTGSM photography and videography equipment. Clean and store equipment properly. Offer upgrade/obsolesce purchasing suggestions for future equipment. Responsible for training and return receipt when loaning equipment to internal users.
Coordinates departmental Social media administrators - monthly interactions for content updates.
Point of contact to create, edit and/or manage information needed by GSM partners including UHS, UTHSC, other UT entities, and GSM academic departments in regard to all activities that promote and brand GSM.
