The Advancement Services Officer (ASO) will work as a member of the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance Advancement team to inspire individuals to support of the work of the Evans School through philanthropic gifts, engagement, and advocacy as informed members of the public sphere.

The ASO is responsible for a broad range of Advancement (Development, Marketing + Communications, and Engagement) activities designed to inspire connection with the mission of the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Mission Advancement & Engagement, this position provides oversight of day-to-day operations and supports the Assistant Dean for Advancement and entire Advancement team as we work with academic leaders, volunteers, alumni, and surrounding communities to advance the mission of the school. This position interacts with all parts of the Evans School, donors, alumni, partners, community organizations, and many areas of the University of Washington.
Administration + Operations
•Provide support to the Assistant Dean in their work by responding to a variety of requests for support such as tracking gift commitments, front-line customer support, coordinating meetings, pulling reports, working with volunteer leadership groups, and filing contact reports. •Work with all members of the Advancement team, including in the areas of Development, Marketing and Communications, and Stakeholder and Alumni Engagement. •Serve as the liaison with other advancement units on the UW Campus. Participate in Stewardship Network (a network of peers) in UW Advancement. Answer questions and provide information to leadership and others regarding various advancement initiatives.
Marketing & Communications Support
•Assist with the creation and production of direct mail, email, web content, newsletters, brochures, personal correspondence, and other communication as needed. Support outgoing Advancement Office correspondence, proposals, and other communications with completeness, accuracy, and branding. •Work with UW Mailing Services, printers, and other vendors to coordinate large printings and mailings. •Serve as Evans School go-to expert on various software platforms (ex: Marketo for mass-emails, CVENT for event registration, and Social Pilot for social media posting – training on all to be provided). •Play key role in sourcing and posting social media content across all channels. •Drive internal organizational communication by contributing content to the Evans Community HUB (internal news site). Help communicate the work of the Evans School to external audiences through the use of Social Media platforms.
Development Support – Donor Acknowledgment, Solicitation, & Stewardship
•Manage the weekly gift acknowledgement process for all gifts to the Evans School; utilizes independent decision-making skills for donor correspondence, ensuring upkeep of appropriate salutations and other data used for the process, interpret policies and alert team members of potential gift processing errors. •Pull and analyze data from the donor database as needed to support data-driven decision making in all projects, including segmenting constituent mailing lists. •Enter contact reports (donor correspondence and stewardship activities) into database and coordinate requests for advancement-related reports. •Oversee online giving fund maintenance (this entails ensuring that fund descriptions are accurate and that correct funds are highlighted). •Manage annual stewardship of donors to endowed scholarships and professorships, with thank you letters from fellowship recipients and faculty, as well as arranging donor/student recipient fellowship lunches. •Manage gift processing, as well as thank you call/email/letter process for all gifts. •Maintain alumni contact and employment information in Advance. •Draft and complete acknowledgement letters as well as condolence, congratulation, birthday, and special letters to donors, volunteers, and others as needed. Send quarterly acknowledgement reports to all payroll deduction and pledge payment donors. •Serve as Evans School’s lead for the annual class gift fund. Work with Evans School Student Services staff and Evans Student Organization leadership to coordinate and support the execution of a class gift drive amongst our graduating MPA students. •Manage the execution of select Evans School advancement related events, select meetings, and donor fellowship lunches. • Perform other duties as assigned in service to the mission of the Evans School.
Bachelor's degree and at least one year of professional experience in administrative support
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Demonstrated strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, etc.
Experience working with donor databases and using data to inform decision making. Familiarity with marketing/communications tools, particularly Marketo, CVENT, and social media platforms. Knowledge of alumni relations/development/marketing/advancement principles.
