WRITER , MIT News Office , to help tell MIT's story to the world via the Institute's daily news site, MIT News. Will play a general assignment role and produce news articles that reach across departments and schools and highlight MIT's collaborative, hands-on, curiosity-driven culture. Story topics will map to various Institute priorities, including addressing climate change and sustainability challenges; pioneering new ways of teaching and learning; and fostering an inclusive, welcoming community. Will write two MIT News stories per week, independently manage story deadlines and responses to incoming story pitches and vet draft articles; collaborate with colleagues handling media relations, social media, and other MIT platforms to adapt news stories for these channels; help coordinate visual/multimedia elements to accompany articles; and take photographs on occasion.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' experience in a news setting, public information office, or university communications role; excellent writing, interpersonal, research, and interviewing skills; and knowledge of or interest in higher education and/or science and engineering.
