Description of Work:
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska is seeking applicants from qualified individuals for the position of IANR Media Specialist. The position reports to the IANR Director of Communications and plays an important role in helping build public awareness support for the research, extension, teaching and learning taking place at IANR campuses and research centers across the state.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, while identifying and writing compelling content that highlights important, innovative work taking place throughout the. Other duties include: managing the institute's social media pages, managing the IANR News webpage, managing and updating media contact lists, editing and scheduling weekly emails to campus and statewide stakeholders, writing press releases and announcements, managing student workers, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Marketing, Agricultural Communications, or related field plus two years' experience developing creative and diverse communication materials required. Social media and web management experience necessary. Experience writing news releases and other announcements required. Must be familiar with AP style.
Experience writing about science and/or research. Experience successfully working as part of a team on larger projects preferred. Prefer a candidate with experience in media relations. Familiarity with Nebraska's agriculture industry preferred. Experience working in higher education preferred.
