The newly created position of Director of Content has critical responsibilities for managing the direction, implementation, and ongoing evaluation for all strategic and editorial communications activities to support CMU's Tepper School of Business. This role is multi-faceted and strategic. This person should demonstrate excellent collaborative and communication skills.
The Director of Content is responsible for the successful execution of the Tepper School of Business communications strategy by ensuring materials produced are professionally created and consistent with the school's overall messaging. The Director works with program directors, faculty, and administrators to develop printed materials that supports the school's goals. Additionally, the Director will serve as the Editor of Tepper Alumni magazine, which is published twice a year and distributed to all alumni and parents. The Director also will manage an external freelance community of writers, designers, editors, photographers, and printers. Duties include the following:
The Director is an individual whose work impacts the entire Tepper community. The Director works with other marketing team members to develop communications strategy, and story ideas, and collaborates with the program managers in the production of viewbooks, marketing brochures and one-pagers, event programs, and other marketing materials. As the Editor of the magazine, the Director would manage the magazine, including setting the editorial agenda; sourcing news stories, alumni class notes, and event photos; and coordinating mailing lists and distribution. This role will also serve as a primary editor for the school, including website content and external messages.
By creating content to be shared with prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and more, this position is a key component of the school's outreach efforts. The Director's work includes promoting all degree and nondegree programs, student and alumni stories, the work of the centers/institutes/initiatives, Development outreach, Board of Advisors/Parents Advisory Council engagement, and more. In addition, this person will collaborate with individuals across the campus. The Director reports to the CMCO.
Strategic Communication Plan Development and Implementation
Develop a strategic plan to see opportunities of reputational improvement as well as enhance unique Tepper strengths
Develop new branded microsite to demonstrate thought leadership and faculty research

Develop a communications/content plan to support reputation, influence in rankings
Identify and oversee high-profile events and media opportunities to feature alumni, donors, students and the dean
Social Media Strategy (Content, cadence, pipeline)
DE&I - Effectively communicate, promote and demonstrate measurable improvement.
Tepper Impact report - Oversee development of an annual benchmark report of the impact of Tepper (educational, intellectual, economic, cultural, community, sustainability, etc.)
Website User Experience
Ensure website reflects a sophisticated experience for our audiences (student prospects, faculty, peers, media, community, etc.) and amplifies the new brand positioning, The Intelligent Future
Manage website team to update and optimize current website
Oversee digital agency partners

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
5-8 years of relevant work experience required
Higher education experience is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in campaign development and implementation, media management and evaluation of digital media effectiveness is required for consideration. Ability to work with multiple internal and agency partners and effectively communicate marketing strategies that inspire results.
