Reporting to the Associate Director of the Institute for the Study of Sexuality and Gender (ISSG), and working closely with the Faculty Director and Institute faculty, the Coordinator provides administrative and programmatic support to the Institute.
The Coordinator: facilities the scheduling of WMST courses for the academic year in consultation with the Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies and colleagues at Barnard WGSS;
Assists with the Institute???s public programming, including the creation of event publicity, arranging of event logistics (such as reserving space, ordering catering, vendor on-boarding, and securing speaker travel and accommodations), and executing tasks related to day-of event management;
Acting as the initiator on financial transactions for the Institute, including vendor payments and reconciling P-Card transactions;
Creates and distributes the Institute???s weekly e-newsletter, including the solicitation of relevant news and events;
Oversees the upkeep of the Institute???s website and social media platforms; supervises the Institute???s work study and casual student staff; performs general reception duties, including greeting visitors to the Institute and answering queries directed to the Institute???s general email address and phone number;
Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of related experience.
Some college or bachelor???s degree preferred.
Experience with event coordination and execution is preferred. Interest in/or a familiarity with the field of Women???s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or higher education is a plus.
Excellent organizational and communication skills are required. Ability to exercise good judgement, interact with a variety of stakeholders, prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality when appropriate, and meet competing deadlines required.
