The University Marketing and Communications department at SIUE is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Media Relations Marketing Associate vacancy. The Associate will serve as an integral member of the SIUE communications team creating media-specific content, responding to media inquiries, and proactively pitching to support the advancement of SIUE's reputation.
The selected candidate will manage multiple client relationships and assist in developing overall communication strategy for assigned accounts at the school/major unit level or audience/constituency level. They will identify and implement tactics that help achieve client objectives and will develop communication strategies, key messages and content for marketing collateral, advertising, and TV/radio, ensuring effective communication of SIUE information and strategies. The Media Relations Associate will also collaborate with assigned clients, college, schools and major units to develop the content, framework, video and text for area-specific webpages.
Additional duties will include: -Oversee the development and production of video content for news and promotional uses. -Create various news packages. -Create concepts, develop scripts, conduct interviews, and collaborate with videographer in post-production to communicate key messages and achieve client and institutional marketing goals.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the clients and university.

1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field. 2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.*

-Minimum of three to five years’ experience in promotional writing, technical communications or journalism STRONGLY preferred. -Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as media distribution platforms. -Experience in interviewing and video production for news and promotional purposes. -Ability to communicate with multiple departments to collect and disseminate information effectively. -Motivated team player with outstanding organization and time management skills. - Must be highly proficient in media writing, with an extensive knowledge of AP Style and familiarity with common and emerging media relations tools and platforms.
Additionally, candidates must have demonstrated success in: -Prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously. -Development and maintenance of schedules and workflow. -Advanced internet technologies, information design and web management concepts. -Content and key message development for a variety of target audiences, including media.
