The Public Information Assistant is a full-time (1.0), 12-month position for Oregon State University's (OSU) Extension Communications unit, reporting to the Assistant to the Director/Office Manager.
This individual's primary role is to assist with coordinating digital content (primarily in English and Spanish) that supports awareness of information, expertise and impact of the Division of Extension and Engagement and the OSU Extension Service and help implement strategies to engage public and internal audiences with that content. The person in this position has in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of all content produced by the communications team. This content is used and managed across a variety of digital platforms, including websites, digital marketing tools, online databases and web-based collaboration software.
The Public Information Assistant helps support the team's integrated communication and marketing efforts, including web content strategy, marketing, publishing, public information, and administrative support functions. The person in this position supports projects and processes, including:
· Digital content publishing and maintenance (web-based publications, e-newsletters and related analysis)
· OSU Extension's Ask an Expert/Ask Extension online service
This individual serves as a resource for colleagues on using the unit-supported content management systems and tools for digital publishing and engagement.
This work is done in collaboration with unit colleagues, the Division's technology and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion units, OSU Extension employees and university communications colleagues.
The Extension Communications unit supports the strategic communication needs of the Division of Extension and Engagement and the statewide OSU Extension Service. The team collaborates with division leadership and colleagues to create educational, engaging and brand-aligned communications. This includes educational publishing, news and media relations, issues and impact communications, marketing and branding, visual design and multimedia, and web and content strategy efforts. The team also offers advice, consultation and training for OSU Extension employees in these areas. In addition, the team provides collaborative leadership for innovative and effective use of educational and communication technologies that support access to and engagement with OSU Extension.

Two years of experience gathering information, writing and/or producing materials, and presenting materials to selected audiences; OR A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, or a closely-related field.
Experience publishing digital content, such as for websites, social media or digital newsletter platforms.
Proficiency with software tools for email, word processing, spreadsheets, file sharing and collaboration.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Strong attention to detail, such as but not limited to proofreading.
