SUMMARY: This is an exciting opportunity to join an energetic and innovative Otterbein University Alumni & Family Engagement (AFE) team as Coordinator for Alumni and Family Programs. The mission of the AFE team is to deepen engagement with more than 26,000 alumni around the world and the Coordinator plays a key role in helping the team meet its goals.

Otterbein has been selected as one of 23 universities across the US and the first in Ohio to host a Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Center. Otterbein will work with its own campus community as well as the Columbus City and Westerville City school districts to create positive narrative change about race; promote racial healing activities; and erase structural barriers to equity and opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist with and staff programs and events for alumni & families that fulfill the mission of Otterbein University.
- Create and implement reunion experiences for select classes and affinity groups, with initial focus on the 25th reunion. Build reunion committees, coordinate event details, implement marketing plan.
- Staff Greek Alumni Council, working in collaboration with Center for Student Involvement on meeting dates, agendas, and communication to Greek alumni volunteers.
- Act as project manager for the division’s constituent communication calendar and serve as the primary point of contact and liaison to the Marketing/Communication team.
- Design and build segmented content for the monthly Cardinal E-news, special event eblasts, and other projects as needed.
- Market alumni & family content through website and social media communications avenues.
- Create and manage alumni registration pages using campus software and maintain current alumni webpages using the content management system
- Manage video engagement series.
- Partner with Annual Giving staff to ensure collaboration on engagement to giving initiatives.
- Serve as Institutional Advancement's primary on-campus event and conference logistics contact, including booking and invoicing, event preparation work (moving tables, chairs, boxes, etc.), and various administrative duties as directed.
- Represent the University through applicable professional organizations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required for the position.
- Must work as a team member and work effectively with volunteers.
- Self-motivated and able to balance competing deadlines and manage multiple and often shifting priorities.
- Ability to build strong relationships and professionally represent the University brand.
- Experience working with social media platforms to engage audiences.
- Willing to travel and maintain evening and weekend hours occasionally.
- Strong organizational, oral/written communication, creative writing, and leadership skills, and must be willing to take initiative.
- Special event planning and social media communication with public relations experience is highly desirable.
- A minimum of two years professional experience in a related field is preferred.
- Previous success in program/event planning and implementation in a college, corporate, or non-profit setting preferred.
- Design skills using Constant Contact, InDesign, and Publisher preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: N/A
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to understand and work with all nationalities over the phone and in person. Solid writing, proofing and editing skills. AP style experience recommended.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: The candidate must have excellent computer skills and should have experience using database software. Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Candidates should have experience actively utilizing social media. Experience using Google, excel, Constant Contact, Publisher, Microsoft Office and content management systems is desirable.
