Sheridan School, an independent K-8 school in Washington, D.C., is seeking a highly-organized, collaborative, and reliable Communications Associate to be a part of our school’s communications and storytelling team.

Our ideal candidate is a strong writer, engaged listener, and keen observer who loves creating content – written, visual, and digital. They are collaborative and self-directed with experience communicating to a wide variety of constituents. They can manage scheduled daily and weekly communications while working on longer and more detailed stories and campaigns.

The Communications Associate at Sheridan School will work closely with the school administration, particularly the Enrollment and Advancement offices, to manage both internal and external communications, including, but not limited to: 

• The weekly parent newsletter, News and Notes
• Sheridan’s website 
• Digital communication channels and social media
• E-publications and printed pieces for marketing
• Longer articles 
• Graphic design 

Familiarity with the following platforms and tools is preferred: 

• An email marketing suite such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
• Wordpress or other website content management platform
• Gsuite for education
• Adobe suite or other video and photo editing tools (InDesign, Photoshop)
• Canva or other graphic design tools
• Experience with a school information system (Blackbaud, Educate)

??The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, experience in content creation, excellent communications and writing skills, and the ability to establish collaborative relationships with all school constituencies, including current and prospective parents, teachers, alumni and alumni families, and local community members. Candidate must be able to work some nights and weekends for school events. Familiarity with the K-8 educational environment is a plus.
